End of the Continent tells the story of two days in an alternate history of Cape Town. In this choose-your-path novel there are many choices and multiple endings.
Make enemies. Ride a lizard. Meet the Mantis. Expose a Confraternity. Eat litchis. Eviscerate gentrifiers. See your city burn. Flirt with the Kaaiman. Tap aloes.
There are no wrong choices.
The limited edition hardcover book comes with a pine box of 17 illustrated cards.
All the illustrations were done by Shannon van Schalkwyk. The book pages and hardcover were printed by PJ Bookbinders, a family-run business in Ottery. The silver foil was pressed there by hand. Dream Press in Woodstock printed the illustrations along with the dust jacket. In the method of risograph printing, each ink colour layer is done sequentially and takes multiple days to dry. The result is that no risograph print is identical. Each dust jacket and illustration card has unique flaws, depending on how the paper absorbed the ink.
